On this day, June 27, 1972 Atari became a thing and gamers of all ages have been grateful ever since.
With products Pong, The Atari 2600 Video Game Console, and even their own line of Home Computers.
Founded by Ted Dabney and Nolan Bushnell, Atari Inc. single-handedly started the home video gaming industry. There is no way I can write about the amazing things that this company has done for at-home video gaming without looking like I stole it from Wikipedia, So I’ll just leave a link to them at the end.
But seriously people! Atari was a MASSIVE pioneer in its field, and made gaming affordable for most everyone worldwide. Before the Atari2600 video games had to be played on home computers that costed SEVERAL THOUSAND dollars and took up more space than a morbidly obese person in a Wal-Mart wheelchair.
Hell, 44 years later I still enjoy playing Pong, mind you it’s on an emulator, but STILL.
For those of us that live in virtual worlds, we all owe a HUGE thank you to these two extraordinary people! Thank you Nolan and Ted, THANK YOU for giving us all the opportunity to live out so many lives in our respective virtual worlds, be they on a Sony Playstation, or an Xbox, or a Nintendo, and even in out PCs.
…..Thank You…..
