Warning: Madness Ahead – Call of Cthulhu

I’ma let the rest of ya’ll finish, but H.P. Lovecraft is the greatest writer of all time. Of. All. Time.
Ok, maybe not the best, but he’s up there. Like way up there. Like… Tolkien up there. His books have spawned more spin-offs and sequels that the Lord of the Rings himself could only imagine.

If you know me, you know I love tabletop games. A lot. One of my favorites that I’ve never been able to play is Call of Cthulhu, mostly because Ia like driving myself insane in the middle of the night.

No Really

Now this team of guys up at Focus Home Interactive have done what fthagn… few… have dared (and most have failed.) They’re turning this glorious machination of ph’nglui… er, prose… into a video game. They’re calling it an RPG Investigation game, which, to me, invokes mglw’nfah… uh, memories… of Heavy Rain. This game shows real promise, as FHI have published some really good games in recent history, notably 'Mordheim: City of the Damned' for you Warhammer fans.

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest kind of fear is fear of the unknown." That's the tagline they're going with, written by the creator of Essex County himself, H.P. Lovecraft

Set on an island called Darkwater, it seems like you’ll be Cthulhu… um, controlling… a private investigator, checking out the ‘Hawkins Case’, but finding that it’s in no way normal. He’s coming. He dreams and will awake soon, and you have to stop it. Otherwise, it will be the end of the world as we all know it.

He Waits, Dreaming

I am seriously amped up for this game, and R’yleh hope you are too. It’s set for a 2017 release, and wgah’nagl Fthagn.

I’m not sure what’s coming over me, but we may already be too late….

Here's the Trailer released today for those who want to watch! It's pretty sweet.

That's also FHI's official Youtube channel, so subscribe to them if you want to see more (or just follow us and we can get it to you!)
